BBS
Using HAProxy I managed to work out how to limit one connection per IP address to the BBS' telnet server. Now you can have the full experience of one phone line, one call, one connection (unless you use the ftelnet embed on the site, I’m not a monster)

I figured out what the problem was with the home servers. Turns out the one that does all the serving can’t handle a lot coming at it through cloudflared, so having to move the end point to the relay machine to give it less memory load. Runs OK still some latency from the VPN

In a very shitty world, I appreciate this report from PBS
-
Not sure what happened with the servers earlier, the connection went extremely slow. In the end I had to change the VPN endpoint to Ireland and move it on to my backup cable connection to fix it

Because I hate myself℠ I decided that I’d use the mmn.eco domain to host my content in my house (there is no way I’m doing that on the main domain, I’m not insane). It uses Cloudflare tunnels for reasons, it is what it is, but since it is just a static copy should perform well enough

Oh so the US can do gun control. In all seriousness though aligning gender identity with the words “mentally defective” right now, it won’t be long before that follows to the rest of the LGB in other areas. Remember kids, without the T the rest of us are fucked (talking to you anti-T cis white Gs)

Did I document anything I’ve done today, no, but I did write a little side quest entry about it www.mmn.ca/2025/08/3…
-
Quite happy with the work earlier, I only just finished up some extra little bits, adding up a few extra routes and all that. Seems to be fairly stable considering the servers are riding a VPN. Also did a little DIY cable management

If you have no idea what telnet is, then go here toronto.mmn.on.ca/public/te…

BBS
Today I woke up and chose violence. Anyways, you can now telnet to bbs.toronto.mmn.on.ca. HAProxy on an external VPS (I might move this on to Frans)

How I do incoming mail delivery, not so sure, but that is an exciting thing to try tomorrow
-
BBS
Tomorrow I want to try something crazy. Isolating my servers to their own network on a VPN, explore how CloudFlare tunnels work (I know), and see if I can switch over the BBS to run properly behind that setup. I don’t fully need to expose telnet, that’s what ftelnet is for

The only question I have about Taylor Swift’s wedding is « will she take her private jet down the aisle » and « will it be the same climate catastrophic event as Bezsos’ AirBNBing an entire city »

I’ve been chasing this bitch of a mosquito throughout my flat. This mother fucker survived three direct hits, 50/50 on the fourth with the shoe. Everything awful lives forever it seems

I posted something earlier but it never uploaded 🤔

I love how instagram innovates everyday, my feed is 99% ads and I’m so glad that they put ad breaks in between all of these ads forcing me to watch an ad. This is really the user experience I love when I just want to view a single post from a human 🥰

Just followed a link to Reddit, I’m getting everything auto translated by AI. Can’t figure out how to switch it off, how does anybody trust this site now? Honestly, I don’t even know what the poster wrote for real, I just get slop
